Scaling Northampton modular housing firm Boost TA appoints senior MMC delivery specialist

Founded in 2024 by Giles Donovan and Will Roberts, Boost TA has recently secured several contracts with local authorities as demand for temporary accommodation solutions continues to grow across the UK. The firm provides innovative relocatable modular homes that enable local authorities to rapidly deliver high-quality temporary accommodation while reducing reliance on costly hotel placements and private rental stock.
Rick Butters brings more than 25 years of experience delivering residential development and industrialised construction projects across the UK and Europe. Throughout his career he has worked closely with manufacturers specialising in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and industrialised building systems across the UK, Europe, the Baltics and the Nordics.
In his new role, he will lead project delivery across Boost TA’s expanding portfolio of schemes, coordinating design, manufacturing and site installation to support rapid deployment of modular homes for local authority partners.
Mr Butters has held numerous senior leadership roles across the modular and industrialised construction sector, including positions with WElink Homes, BoKlok (the IKEA–Skanska joint venture), ilke Homes, Unite Modular Solutions and EBS ELK. He brings significant expertise in programme delivery, contractor and consultant management, governance and the integration of offsite manufacturing with on-site construction. Rick is also a member of the BOPAS Advisory Panel, helping shape industry guidance supporting wider adoption of modern construction methods across the UK housing sector.
Giles Donovan, co-founder of Boost TA, said: “Demand for high-quality temporary accommodation is rising sharply as councils look for faster, more cost-effective housing solutions. Rick’s experience in modular delivery and large-scale housing programmes will help us scale our delivery capability and support local authorities in bringing new homes into use more quickly. Rick is a fantastic addition to the team and will help us deliver the communities we are creating for councils.”
Rick Butters added: “The extent of the temporary accommodation challenge facing local authorities means the sector needs faster, more flexible housing solutions. The Boost TA approach combines high-quality British manufacturing with rapid on-site deployment, providing councils with a practical way to deliver safe, energy-efficient accommodation quickly while avoiding the long lead times and high costs of traditional construction. I am excited to hit the ground running with two projects to deliver over 100 urgently needed new homes in the coming months.”
Boost TA’s relocatable homes are manufactured offsite in Yorkshire using almost entirely recyclable materials and can be delivered at a rate of over 10 apartments in a single day once groundworks and services are prepared.
The firm’s approach to projects delivers significant capital and time savings over other forms of temporary accommodation provision, replacing costly hotel accommodation and private rental stock.
